As Ganagapur also known Devaraganagapur in Afzalpur taluk is a very well known pilgrimage centre in this region. It is situated about 16 km south of Gangapur railway station on Chennai-Mumbai rail route and about 25 km west of Afzalpur. The distance from Kalaburagi is about 40 km. This place is situated on the left bank of the river Bheema. About three km from this place there is the enchanting sangama of the Bheema and the Amarja rivers. There are temples dedicated to Sangame-shvara and Narasimha in addition to a sacred Bhasmagudda (holy ash mound). On the way to Sangama are located as many as eight tirthas (holy water ponds).
The centre of attraction of the place for devotees is the highly revered sacred shrine of Sri Narasimha Saraswati described as the incarnation of Dattatreya who stayed here for 23 years and his Nirguna Padukas are offered pooja. During the month of February the annual jatra is held for five days attracting lakhs of devotees from Maharashtra and Karnataka.
The place has facilities like Dharmashalas and choultries in addition to good hotels for tourists and pilgrims. It is very convenient to visit the place from Kalaburagi with good means of transport. The place can be visited throughout the year.

Auto-rickshaw: Not recommended for full route, but useful from Chowdapur to Ganagapur

By Train
Nearest Station: Ganagapur Road (GUR)

Train travel from Kalaburagi (Station code: GR) to GUR takes ~40 min

Then, take auto or shared cab for the remaining 22 km to the temple

Ideal if coming from longer distances or combining with other train routes

Note: Not all trains stop at GUR — check IRCTC or ask at Kalaburagi station for available options.
