It is a historically important religious center located on the left bank of the Bhima River, 31 km northwest of the taluk headquarters, Afzalpur. This town, which is mentioned as Maniyur-12 in ancient inscriptions, was formerly part of Alande-1000, and was the administrative center of 12 villages. The Gavi Siddheshwar, Kallalingeshwar and Ellamma temples in the town are ancient and important. The Gavi Siddheshwar temple in the middle of the town is located on a slight slope and has a sanctum sanctorum, antarala and navaranga. There is a side entrance to enter the temple and it has an ardhamantapa. All these confirm the fact that it was a Vaishnava temple in the past. On the side of this temple, the parts belonging to this boundary are scattered. The five-day fair of this goddess is held on the full moon day, and tens of thousands of people participate in the fair.
Only the navaranga of the temple called Lingeshwara near the riverbank remains now, and the sanctum and interior parts have been destroyed. Its pillars are huge, and are works of about the 10th-11th century, and are beautiful. In front of it is a stone of heroes. The Channakeshava temple on the bank of the river is new, and in its sanctum there is an ancient sculpture of Channakeshava about eight feet high, which is beautiful to look at. Its fair is held on the threshold of the full moon.
